In a major expansion, Apple’s Tap to Pay to iPhone has launched in several European countries. This includes Bulgaria, Finland, Hungary, Poland and others.
With Tap to Pay, retailers and small businesses can accept contactless payments directly using their iPhones.
Apple first announced Tap to Pay in early 2022, launching it in the US. Back then, it enabled business owners with an iPhone XS to accept payments through credit/debit cards and Apple Pay through Stripe.
Since then, Apple has slowly but steadily expanded Tap to Pay to more countries, including Australia, the UAE, and select European countries. Now, the company is making its biggest Tap to Pay expansion in Europe yet, bringing the feature to nine countries. Here are the new additions along with the payment services Apple has partnered with:
- Bulgaria: Adyen, myPOS, Revolut and Viva; SumUp coming soon
- Finland: Adyen, Mollie, Nets, Revolut, Stripe, SumUp and Viva; coming soon Surfboard Payments
- Hungary: Adyen, Global Payments, myPOS, Revolut, SumUp, Viva and Worldline
- Liechtenstein: Adyen
- Poland: Adyen, eService and PKO Bank Polski, Mollie, Stripe, SumUp, Viva and Worldline; coming soon Planet Pay, Revolut and PeP (part of the Nexi Group)
- Portugal: Adyen, Mollie, myPOS, Revolut, Stripe, SumUp and Viva
- Slovakia: Adyen, Global Payments Slovenská Sporitel’ňa, Revolut and Worldline; coming soon SumUp
- Slovenia: Adyen, Revolut and Worldline; SumUp and hobex coming soon
- Switzerland: Adyen, Mollie, myPOS, Nexi, Stripe, SumUp and Worldline; coming soon hobex
Besides the above, Tap to Pay is already available in the following European countries: Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Romania, Sweden, and Ukraine.
Tap to Pay to iPhone works with all major card issuers
With Tap to Pay, small businesses can accept payment from cards issued on American Express, Discover, Visa, and Mastercard networks.
