icloud – 8062 error can’t copy folders on Mac

Since two days ago, when copying folders on my Mac, I get an error message saying the operation is not possible because of a 8062 error.

Some folders copy fine. Some start and then stop with the 8062 error message.

The issue could have coincided with updating my macOS to the latest version 15.3.2.

Having tried copying different folders I think the issue is only with folders within my Desktop and Documents folders – which in tern are synched with iCloud Drive Desktop and Documents.

I have plenty of space on my Mac, so I am not optimising my storage. All my documents live on my Mac and on iCloud. My iCloud Drive is synched, yet when I try to copy a folder the iCloud time icon displays suggesting it is downloading files before they are copied – and copying takes considerably longer than it should.

This suggests an issue with my operating system not recognising that files are already on my Mac, and issues with file permissions, corrupt files, or issues with .DS_Store files?

The only way I can get some folders to copy is to use Terminal to first delete all the .DS_Store files from the folder first. (but these files automatically regenerate so this isn’t a long term fix)

What’s going on? How do I resolve file permissions, corrupt files, or issues with .DS_Store files?
