The standard iPhone 17 model will almost certainly include a larger screen. That’s been rumored before, and a very reliable source for display-related insider information said Thursday that the display is getting a boost above the 6.1-inch screen in the current iPhone 16, moving up to 6.3 inches.

The same source also gave exact display sizes for the other three models in the iPhone 17 series.

Larger 6.3-inch screen might be a top reason to choose iPhone 17

The iPhone 17 Air appears in leak after leak, and tipsters keep bringing up the two iPhone 17 Pro models, but the standard iPhone 17 gets comparatively little attention. That’s unfortunate because it’s likely to become the most popular of the 2025 series after the early adopters get their Pro models. That’s what happened with the iPhone 16 series.

Perhaps there’s been little hoopla around the base model because its design supposedly closely follows the 2024 version in many ways. Still, a bigger display will be a standout feature of the upcoming model.

The exact screen size will be 6.27 inches, according to Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants. That’s the same dimensions as the iPhone 16 Pro after that model got a boost in 2024.

He’s someone to be trusted. Young’s sources are reliable enough that he’s built a strong reputation for accurately predicting Apple’s future moves, especially in regards to displays.

Display specs for iPhone 17 Air and Pro, too

Young posted the sizes of the screens coming to all four iPhone 17 variants in a subscriber-only post on X on Thursday.

He predicts that the controversial iPhone 17 Air will include a 6.55-inch screen. This all-new model will supposedly be Apple’s thinnest handset ever and will replace the iPhone 16 Plus in the product lineup.

The iPhone 17 Pro will stick with 6.27 inches, while the 17 Pro Max will stay at 6.86 inches, according to Young. Those are both the same as the 2024 equivalent models.

The iPhone 17 rumors won’t turn into reality until Apple formally announces them. That’ll happen in September if Apple follows its long-held tradition.
