About a year ago, my 2021 M1 MacBook Pro was upgrading from Sonoma to Sequoia. Before doing the upgrade, I created a Time Machine backup, because I’ve had OS upgrades go wrong in the past. During the upgrade, my power cable disconnected and my MacBook, which was already in the middle of the upgrade and unable to notify me of the issue, died before the upgrade completed.
The next morning, I go to turn on my computer and to my surprise, it was in a bootloop. I tried to boot from Recovery Mode, and still nothing would load. I took it to my local genius bar, explained the situation and they said that the firmware might have been corrupted during the upgrade process, but they happened to have another computer in the back they could use to revive my firmware.
This was fine with me, as I had a Time Machine backup at home, so they connected the other MacBook Pro, started mine in DFU mode and (being unable to revive mine) had to completely restore my firmware. Since then, though, I’ve had constant issues with my Bluetooth on my MacBook. It’s unable to discover almost any Bluetooth device – other than magic devices, like my trackpad. I had an iPhone 15 Pro at the time (I have since upgraded to the iPhone 16 Pro) and neither device has been able to transfer files via Bluetooth with the MacBook, but the phones seem to function correctly with other computers/Bluetooth devices.
Is this due to an issue with the firmware being restored, or is there some kind of bug in MacOS Sequoia that essentially disables Bluetooth on the M1 MacBook Pro? I love my computer, but it used to function correctly, and now I don’t know if it’s a hardware issue, and OS/upgrade issue or what. Any kind of guidance to restore Bluetooth connectivity to my device would be greatly appreciated!
